Why private registration? Because your private space matters!
When registering a domain, your private details (name and address) will be stored in the WhoIs database. The public contact details of a domain registrant are visible in the WhoIs database.
By enabling the private registration*, you prevent your personal details from being publicly visible. Thus, when searching for your domain in the WhoIs database, you will find our details instead of yours.
This helps to protect your data and your website against spam and misuse by third parties. This feature is free of charge.
How to activate the private registration
You can activate the private registration in your 1&1 Control Panel for each domain separately.
Select the domain you want to protect and click Edit Domain Settings.
Now you can enable private registration.
After you have agreed to the Terms and Conditions, the registration settings will be updated and your private data will be protected.
A search in the WhoIs database, will display our details instead of your private data.
