Thanks for making PHP 7.2 available. One of the main benefits of PHP 7.2 is the Libsodium extension for cryptography. libsodium does not appear to be enabled by default on 1&1 when PHP 7.2 is configured. That is, when I run the below PHP code on a 1&1 site that has PHP 7.2, all of the SODIUM_* constants are not defined and give warnings:

Can you please let us know how to enable the libsodium extension on 1&1?

      Hi Howie,

libsodium will be implemented by us in a (near) future version of PHP 7.2. Stay tuned 🙂

      Best regards,

though we have no concrete plans for it yet, I am very optimistic that we will be able to offer you PHP 8 very close to its official release. We will let you know when we have something official to announce. 🙂

      Best regards,
      Michael, 1&1
