Joomla! 3.5 Beta 2 with PHP 7 support released

Joomla! 3.5 Beta 2 was just released. Joomla! community members and advanced users can try the latest features and bugfixes now.

We recommend you use Joomla! 3.5 Beta 2 only on test-websites. Do not use this software on production websites.

You can download a customized Joomla! 3.5 Beta 2 package from This package also includes a small bugfix for the bug fatal error in mod_version, that affected Joomla! 3.5 websites when used with PHP 5.4 or lower.

What’s new?

Joomla! 3.5 supports PHP 7, significantly improving performance over Joomla! 3.4 websites using PHP 5.4 or PHP 5.6.

Beta 2 adds some useful features:

  • Super Users will now receive an e-mail notification, when a critical update is available.

  • Joomla! Statistics (opt-out). Joomla! now collects anonymized data. It collects the PHP version, database type and version as well as the Joomla! version. This information helps the Joomla! Community develop a better understanding, which platforms to support in the future.
    You can opt-out of this feature when logging in the first time or at any time using the Joomla! Statistics settings.
